Puppet for liberals

NOW YOU can see how much of a liberal Democrat U.S. Sen. Jean Carnahan really is. First she votes for abortion on demand. Now she has voted against the repeal of the death tax. She believes the federal government is entitled to a big portion of the money you worked for all your life just to pass on to your kids. Then she tries to cover her tracks by saying "the repeal would interfere with some retirement programs." Yes, like the fat retirement program for U.S. senators. I hope we get rid of this puppet for the liberals in Congress in the next election.

Death-tax rationale

NO, DAVID Limbaugh, the rationale for opposing the estate tax is not that it reduces the inequities of wealth. The estate tax is based on the correct supposition that if inherited estates were left untaxed, it would turn the survivors into wastrels who would live even more decadent, wild and unproductive lives than they already do. And, the worst thing about it would be that they would try to justify their libertine lifestyles by claiming to be virtuous Republicans.

TERRY IRWIN indignantly canceled his subscription to the Southeast Missourian because of a piece written about the lifestyle he lives in Gordonville, Mo. Was he the first in Southeast Missourian history to cancel what was apparently, to that point, a free subscription?

Environmental fires

I'M WATCHING television and seeing all the wildfires out West. I wonder where all the environmentalists who chain themselves to trees are. Why aren't they out there working to save the environment? How serious are they?
