Not at my cabin SOME LOCAL teenagers asked me if they could borrow my cabin in the woods for a party after the prom. The first thing they started talking about was a safe place to drink alcohol. That is illegal. If you think I'm going to supply a place for you to drink illegal liquor, you're wrong. So this is a public notice. If anybody sees teenagers at my cabin after the prom, call the sheriff. I will call the sheriff. We don't need illegal activities...

Not at my cabin

SOME LOCAL teenagers asked me if they could borrow my cabin in the woods for a party after the prom. The first thing they started talking about was a safe place to drink alcohol. That is illegal. If you think I'm going to supply a place for you to drink illegal liquor, you're wrong. So this is a public notice. If anybody sees teenagers at my cabin after the prom, call the sheriff. Something positive

DAVID LIMBAUGH is entitled to his opinions. However, it would be nice for him to write a positive, nondemeaning article about a Democrat or Libertarian or atheist who's made a difference in a community.

Get rich quick

I HAVE a suggestion for what to do about Snake Hill. Since the Cape Girardeau tourism advocates like to brag about all of the things to see in Cape, why not spend more money the city can't afford and close the hill, plant a bunch of roses along its sides and build a new road bypassing it. That would surely bring more tourists into the city and boost revenue. The city could get rich from an idea like that.

Thanks, police officers

I'M SO tired of everyone bad-mouthing the police. This year the police are not getting a raise, but you still have police officers. You don't think they deserve a raise? They need a raise because of what they have to put up with. We should be ashamed at the way we downplay the police. I want to let the police know they are doing a great job. Keep up the good work.

Tire replacement

I THINK Cape Girardeau County should pay for our tires. Due to road conditions in the county, tires are being worn out faster. Bloomfield Road alone is worth two new tires.

Reshaping a society

THE UNITED States is less than 250 years old, and we are going to reshape a society that is 5,000 years old. Do we really want to rush into an American-style election in a land where Shiites represent 60 percent of the electorate? Who's going to win that one?

Convenient schools

THERE ARE a lot of people in Gordonville who support the elementary attendance center. It would take a lot longer than five minutes for all the kids in Gordonville to be bused to schools in Jackson. Doing this would increase class sizes. I would support keeping the Gordonville, Fruitland and Millersville schools open. I hope the community will support that also. The parents in those communities deserve to have their children close to home, especially when they're in lower grades.

Unfair French jokes

I HAVE not kept count of the number of jokes and nasty remarks about the French for not standing with us on the war with Iraq. Where are the jokes about the Germans, Russians and Chinese? They did not support us or send troops. They also had financial interests with Saddam Hussein. The history lessons avoided in today's conversation about the French include the fact that the French helped us free ourselves from being a colony of England. Remember your history about tea and not just French wine.

A bypass for Jackson

I AGREE that the traffic congestion in Jackson could be helped with a bypass around Jackson. Most of the people are traveling through on their way to work and live outside the city limits. Whatever happened to the bypass plan that was to be south of Jackson?

A waste of money

I HAVE one of those dumb questions. If the state is out of money, why are we going to all the trouble to build a new road into Cape County Park North where the old road was perfectly good? A new road is a waste of money. And the state claims it's out of money.
