Triumph of democracy
"THERE IS simply no satisfactory end for the policy the Bush administration unilaterally adopted to justify the use of invasion troops in the Middle East," sayeth pessimistic sage Jack Stapleton. Sorry, but you're wrong again. Planting the seeds of democracy in Iraq, seeing it spread throughout the Arab world and resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict would be but three benefits of history-making importance. Time will tell, but I have come to believe that the triumph of democracy all over the world is inevitable.
Beautiful decorations
I JUST wanted to say thanks to Maxine and Gerald Boren for their beautiful Easter decorations in their yard again this year. They always do such a beautiful job, and I know it's a lot of hard work.
Ready for improvements
I AM very thankful for the changes being made to Snake Hill. I traveled this area twice a day for the past nine years. Countless times I have been almost sideswiped by vehicles coming down the center of this hill at high rates of speed. To those of you not wanting to change history: how about keeping the Mississippi River bridge that we have now instead of getting the Bill Emerson Memorial Bridge? I'm for progress and the safety issues first. By the way, I totaled a car on Snake Hill in the rain several years ago. I was not speeding or driving across the center lane either. I hydroplaned on wet leaves. It could be you or your child or grandchild on the receiving end of some of these hazardous drivers who enjoy playing and making history on this hill.
