I read in the paper that our governor was going to visit CJHS. That's great, but why not visit an elementary school that has consistently performed well on the state assessment each year. Blanchard is a school with a large majority of students in the poverty level. The school climate is excellent due to a wonderful principal and dedicated teachers who work day and night to make sure students have an optimum education. I hope the board office and board of education visit that school regularly to witness the atmosphere of learning going on there.
Regarding your article about the Delta Queen and riverboat fans trying to save it, you should check your archives for the rest of the story. You carried an article back in '07 or '08 about how a company had purchased the Delta Queen and had gotten rid of the union employees. And the union employees, of course, had objected, and they managed to get their Democrat allies in Congress to cancel the exemption that the boat had had for 40 years. Because of that, the Delta Queen quit running on the rivers. And so, that's the rest of the story. But you might look at your archives. You'll see that article, how the Democratic people on the committees in Washington, D.C., managed to drydock the Delta Queen.
