Business flags

I can't believe how many businesses didn't have their flags flying at half-staff Sept. 11.

Satisfaction survey

IT'S a customer-service mentality that is causing problems in our society and will lead us to mediocrity. Hospitals have surveys asking how you feel about how the hospital staff waited on you, not how well you are. That may be OK at a restaurant. The surveys should ask: Did you get what you wanted?

Wear gloves

I think the health department needs to require restaurants employees, including food vendors at the fair, to wear gloves when serving food. The health department needs to enforce this.

Learn the terms

I suggest that all those who call President Obama a socialist, fascist or communist need to learn what these terms mean. They are not the same thing, and he can't be every single one. He is our leader. We have the right to disagree with him, but do it civilly.

Subsidy verification

MANY on the left seem upset that U.S. Rep. Joe Wilson yelled, "You lie!" during President Obama's speech. However, they didn't seem to mind Obama suggesting people in the middle and on the right are spreading false information about the health care reform bills. In fact, with a little fact-checking, one would discover that the Democrats voted down an amendment requiring verification of citizenship to receive subsidies. What good would prohibiting subsidies for illegals do if the system denies verification?

Freedom? Choice?

IN July 2007, Barack Obama promised that, if elected president, he would sign the Freedom of Choice Act. It's the most diabolical legislation ever conceived. It isn't about freedom or choice at all. It's about forcing every American citizen -- regardless of his or her view on abortion -- to support abortion-on-demand not just as a "fundamental right" but as a taxpayer-funded entitlement. FOCA would go far beyond Roe v. Wade in making abortion a government-protected and taxpayer-supported right through all nine months of pregnancy.

Tired of critics

I am of listening to people criticize my president. I don't care who voted for him. He is there now. He has only been there eight months. I am not going to read anything against President Obama and this administration anymore.
