I'D like to thank the man and young children who have picked up trash along Highway 177 down Cape Rock Drive and also going up the hill on Bertling. It is very kind of them.
I am honored to have my Native American heritage admired by being a school's mascot. It keeps our history alive, not forgotten.
I'M offended by all the people that are being offended.
GOOD Republicans, what about your ancestors and descendants? Your ancestors enjoyed living right and clean. The water they drank and the air they breathed was pure. Don't you want this for your children and their children? Children today get illnesses from the air and water. I'm sure you enjoy meals, but don't you want your foods to be safe?
I will bet the Warren Buffets and others who think the rich should pay more taxes take advantage of every loophole provided them to lower their taxes. If you truly feel that way, don't take the deductions and exemptions and pay more taxes. In fact, pay all you want until you get that warm and fuzzy feeling you are looking for.
I don't know about the rest of the conservative or tea party members, but I am not what Hoffa referred to in his speech alongside President Obama. Comforting to know our president didn't dispute Hoffa's words or condemn such comments. Makes you really want to buy union and vote for Obama, doesn't it?
WHAT a joke. The president builds up everyone's expectations about his much ballyhooed "jobs plan," and then he trots out the same tired old lines, including class warfare and divisive comments about anyone who might disagree with him. We hear the same old tired ideas and then finally we hear his grand idea: a mini-stimulus.
TELEVISION has reached a new low. Their programs are all sex, violence, perversion, filthy language and now nudists. And the commercials are just as bad, if not worse. It's disgusting. Television used to be entertainment and family-friendly for home viewing.
FINALLY, a state senator who knows what the cost would be if we sell out to the Chinese. Thank you, state Sen. Jason Crowell.
THANK you to the county for restricting burning in Cape Girardeau County. The woman who comes to give a bath from Hospice at our home has thrown her cigarette butts in a grassy field. We have tall grass and a wooded area that could easily burn the home down.
THE party house rule that was made by the city council isn't worth the paper it was printed on. We're having problems with a college fraternity having parties until 1 or 2 in the morning out in the middle of the street, yelling and hollering, leaving trash all over the place. When you call the police, it takes them 10, 15, 20 minutes to show up.
ONE of the problems of having an Indian for a mascot in Jackson is Andrew Jackson. Andrew Jackson despised the Indians, although the Cherokees had developed a highly civilized society with a constitution, alphabet and system of law. Jackson defied the Supreme Court forcing the Indians to leave on the sad journey we now call Trail of Tears. Of all people, Jackson should never have Indians as its mascot.
I just read where the former Delta school became a shelter for the homeless. Has anybody done any checking? When the Rev. Larry Rice wanted to open one in the middle of Cape Girardeau, they were not comfortable with what he was going to bring into the community. Delta is a rural community. Three or four miles from Delta is where the school sits, and it's 20 miles from the sheriff's department. And you want to bring this into a small, rural community?
I read recently in Speak Out about the lady who said if she buys medicine she has no money left for food. I know this to be a fact because I'm in the same boat. We haven't received a raise for so long, but our insurance goes up and I paid $3.33 at the pump recently for a gallon of gas and $3.54 for a gallon of milk. Does Obama and his family have to make such choices? I think not. It's about time the seniors stand up and be heard. If Obama doesn't get out of the White House, America is going down the tube.
