One for respect

Help me understand. If a police officer pulls your car over, you can speed away. Or if he stops to question you on the street, you can run away. Or now, if you are speeding through traffic and he has sirens on, you can go faster and he will not pursue you! When he does stop you, be sure to yell and argue with him. Do not do what he asks. Why do some of today's parents teach, or neglect to teach, this to their kids and maybe get them killed by a cop? My parents taught me the exact opposite of these reactions. What happened to R-E-S-P-E-C-T ?

Gratitude

I don't know how you do it, but, thank you, President Obama, for simultaneously cracking down on the fossil fuel industry while seeing to it that gas prices drop to a historic low.

About Hillary

I've noticed in TV footage that Hillary is walking kind of bowlegged. I guess that's from riding the fence so much!

For edification

I think it would be a good thing if students had boards to advise teachers.

Safety issue

Another late night shooting. Not sure what age group is involved, but isn't there a curfew for young people in Cape city limits? With the amount of shootings going on, for safety, I think all young people (unless going to or from work) should not be on the streets after 10 p.m.

Tension rages on

Good Times columnist Mark Hopkins wrote that we're better off vis a vis Russia because the Soviet Union no longer exists. I disagree. I'll take Mikhail Gorbachev anytime over Vladimir Putin. The Cold War never ended.

Vote 'em out

"You call police and they're here in a heartbeat," says Ervin. "But it's always too late. They're already gone, they scatter. So I don't have any answers. I don't know what to do." What to do is vote out your blood hungry Republican legislators who want the blood-soaking money from the NRA that has caused so many more guns on the streets and in the hands of the criminals. They do not care anything about the American people. Just want to keep their high-paying jobs that they can do nothing and get by with it since they made the rules.

Well played

Any time a male politician resigns because he says he wants to spend more time with his family, you can pretty well conclude that is the lowest among his reasons for resigning. Scandals aside, politicians resign because they have made it through the revolving door to a much more lucrative position on the other side, usually as a lobbyist or consultant, but always as a result of contacts made when they were a politician and supposedly serving the interests of we, the people.

Hop to it

What happened to the mayor and cleaning up Cape Girardeau, Missouri? Take a look at the stoplights and the intersections, where all the cigarettes and weeds are at every single intersection. I think they need to get on it.
