TO rude drivers: A yield sign means you wait until the other traffic clears before proceeding. That means 50 cars can go by before it's your turn. It does not mean that you alternate. You need to learn what the signs mean before you cause a wreck.
Comment length
THE value of a Speak Out comment is inversely proportional to its length.
Water bill
WE just recently received our water bill. What happened to an average of $20 a month increase? Our bill reflected an almost $40 increase. Is anyone else upset about this increase?
Family debt
SEVERAL Speak Out comments have likened the debt problems of our nation to those of a family that is deeply in debt with credit cards charged to the max. I hope and assume they are implying that the family members together should agree on how to reduce their standard of living and work their way back to solvency.

I'M for the rental inspection proposal. All landlords should be. It's a way to pass the costs of inspection on to your renters while using creative methods to avoid the inspection itself.

Hard-core GOP
HARD-CORE House Republicans will not vote to raise the debt ceiling under any circumstances. They want the president to unilaterally raise the debt limit so they can claim he has violated the Constitution, sue or impeach him, all for political gain. Bring it on.
Overtaxing business
SOME of those rich millionaires and billionaires that you seem to think are so bad are the owners of the businesses that you depend on, such as Walmart, the Dollar Store, Save-A-Lot, Penney's, the Gap, McDonald's, Burger King, Taco Bell and others. Do you really want them taxed out of business?
Lead by example
OUR so-called elected leaders in Washington, D.C., should lead by example. If our country is broke, then they should cut their wages, they should cut their 100 percent paid health benefits and they should cut their retirement they get after just a few years of service. Lead the way, by example.
Raiding fund
NO Social Security checks? How many decades and how much money have those clowns in Washington, D.C., used from Social Security funds to pay their bills? How much and how many years? Both sides of the track -- Republicans and Democrats.
Fewer bars
MISS Tracy, keep up your good work. You are right. Fewer bars downtown will mean people like me and many of my friends will be more likely to go down there because we are not going to the casino or to drink.
