** Fireworks for vets

I just want to say a special thank you to all who did the fireworks for the Veterans Home. That was so nice for you to do for our dear veterans. Thanks.

** Stress out

The verdict is in. The most stressful job in America is a firefighter, with only a 7 percent projected growth rate. The least stressful? An audiologist, with a projected growth rate of a whopping 34 percent. Speak Out calling does not technically qualify as a job, though it is highly stressful.

** Bipartisanship

Thank you for publishing a feel-good editorial praising bipartisanship. It immediately pulled me out of a funk I was feeling after reading the excessive verbal regurgitation of David Limbaugh and thinking to myself that his continual stirring of the pot of paranoia might have an effect on the electorate, however minuscule.

** $57 for stillborn

The recent change in the Missouri tax code allowing parents to claim a dependency deduction on their Missouri tax returns for a stillborn child was hailed by lawmakers as a way to help these parents pay the related medical bills. The actual tax savings would be a maximum of $72 and requires a certificate that costs $15, so the net savings will be $57.

** Drone sighting

I'm not sure, but I think I saw a drone flying over the Jackson City Park on the Fourth of July while the fireworks were going off. It kind of stopped over the park and stayed for about five minutes, and then it lit up again and went over the hill and down toward the ball field. And I just wondered if anybody else saw it, or maybe I saw a firework and didn't know it. But it sure looked like a drone to me.

** Narcissistic

Hillary's coming off as sounding like a narcissistic oaf. Sounds familiar, doesn't it?

** Fourth perspective

Thank the Lord the Fourth of July only comes once a year. The true meaning of it has gotten lost in the fireworks craze. It is ridiculous for Cape to allow a whole week of this nightmare. Oh sure, they publish the rules in the newspaper, but rules are only as good as their enforcer. Ten p.m. through the week and 12 a.m. on the Fourth? In my neighborhood they go until at least 2 a.m. every night. Some of them are like high-powered bombs. Forget watching TV. You can't hear it. Come on people, a little consideration for others would be most appreciated.
