I go to my ATM to find people on foot withdrawing money. Those are called drive-in ATMs because you drive in with your car. Please don't use ATMs unless you're actually driving. The grass along Walker Creek is over 2 feet tall. I'm afraid we're going to have snakes and other varmints. Why hasn't it been mowed?...

ATM issues

I go to my ATM to find people on foot withdrawing money. Those are called drive-in ATMs because you drive in with your car. Please don't use ATMs unless you're actually driving.

Grass concern

The grass along Walker Creek is over 2 feet tall. I'm afraid we're going to have snakes and other varmints. Why hasn't it been mowed?

Required reading

David Limbaugh's editorial, "Liberty, where have you gone?" was excellent. All Americans should read it, take it to heart and act upon it.

Locked out

I would really like to thank Memorial Park for locking the doors on the mausoleum so I couldn't visit veterans on Memorial Day. I appreciate it.

Bug spray

I wish the city of Cape would send out the trucks and spray all the bugs and gnats. When I go out for exercise I practically swallow gnats because they are just everywhere.

Grand ole flags

Kudos to the Isle of Capri. Their flag display on Memorial Day was absolutely beautiful.

Dog days

I wish people who walk their dogs in the Parksite subdivision would let their dogs do their business in their own yard, not in everyone else's bushes and on mailboxes. That would surely be appreciated.

Down on potholes

I hope someday soon the city of Jackson will repair the potholes on East Main Street. They've been there for months.

Grass in the street

I live in a middle-class neighborhood. Some of my neighbors let their grass grow too high. When they cut it, they blow their grass into the street. I would think that violates the city code. It's worse than littering.

Fireworks

I want to thank Gary Rust and the casino for stepping up and providing Cape with the fireworks display. I think that is above and beyond for both of them. I also think the mayor and city council should really be red-faced that they could not have taken some tax money they are receiving from the casino to do this for a city the size of Cape. Little towns have them, and we weren't going to? It doesn't make sense.

Banks complain

I can't believe banks are complaining about costs regarding the Schnucks incident. The taxpayers had to help bail out banks because of their stupidity giving out home loans to people who weren't qualified. If banks want to save money, they should get rid of upper management.

Country life

I just have a message for people who live in the city who are complaining about next-door neighbors who won't mow their grass or take care of their property. Trust me, you probably have it better than we have in the country. Out here all they do is drag in a bunch of old used cars, don't mow their grass and pile up their trash to be burned in their backyards. Nobody says anything about it, and it's just ridiculous. Count your blessings, people.

Cost manipulation

The article about how health care prices vary shows how prices are manipulated by doctors and hospitals. I think this is fraud, and I am sick of it.

Photo op

I'm wondering why it is that when our soldiers killed bin Laden, the president was seen in the situation room watching it on TV. But when our people were being killed in Bengazi, he was nowhere to be found. Was the bin Laden incident just a photo op? What the heck's going on with that?

Obama's efforts

It has been wonderful to see how President Obama has handled the tornado in Oklahoma, the hurricane in New Jersey, the Boston bombings and the school shootings in Connecticut. He has been there with words of sympathy and immediate aid. It is such a contrast to President Bush's ineptness after Hurricane Katrina.

Water bills

Since the city is making all that money from the casino, shouldn't city officials help citizens of Cape Girardeau by reducing their water bills? Why don't they try to put money back into the community?
