The U.S. is in trouble. Lawlessness roams the land. Who is it that is flagrantly ignoring our laws? It's our president and his attorney general. Barack Obama said that he would fundamentally change America, and he is doing that. He sets up a stalemate with Congress by sending them legislation that he knows will not pass. Not even the Democrats will vote for the junk he sends over. This then justifies his taking the law into his own hands as he has done with the immigration issue. Eric Holder flagrantly ignores Congress and its members' requests for accountability on the Fast and Furious debacle because he knows that he has the president's support. Since Barack Obama became president he has had to take the law into his own hands on many occasions. Isn't it odd that this has never happened before?
This ozone problem in Farrar, Mo., comes up every summer. We know by now that oak trees take in carbon dioxide on sunny days and give off ozone. That is what oak trees do. On really hot sunny days they give off too much ozone and then the EPA monitor goes off because the oak trees are making too much ozone. It just really is not a problem. It is not man-made pollution. Forget about it. It doesn't matter.
When this paper reports on city council meetings concerning the deer issue, it should be printed on the comics page.
I recently found an old 2006 Southeast Missourian newspaper. In the paper, it was talking about Cape Central teacher salaries starting at $24,500. It also mentioned a steering committee to improve grades and dropout rates. Six years later, teachers get $30,000 and there is no improvement in our schools. We need to do some serious housecleaning.
We would like to thank the firefighters who took time from their families on Father's Day to help a friend in need when a friend's trash barrel fire got out of control. We thank you, and God bless you.
