On June 6, I had a moving sale in Scott City. I was selling a few things I had in storage. In error, a portable sewing machine that was my mother's was sold. I have held onto this for 50-plus years and had no intention of selling it. I would appreciate it if the person who purchased it would please return it to me. The sentimental value outweighs the dollar amount. Money will gladly be refunded. Call 573-225-8551.
The public does not realize that many educational institutions, including the university, are run like Third World dictatorships. Gone is genuine faculty involvement and shared governance. This is the new business model.
The recent headline, "Governor hopeful Parson finds support in Cape" was a real shocker. Never in my wildest imagination would I have dreamed that current Democratic Gov. Jay Nixon would be hopeful that his successor is Parson, a partisan Republican.
Dang the luck. No sooner than a cop sat on a 14-year-old girl who had done nothing illegal and for no reason pulled his gun, a column by Mike Jensen's appears attempting to assure us that we have no reason to fear the police if we've done nothing illegal.
Warning! Please remember to look both ways before driving across an intersection, even though the light may have long since turned green. I failed to do so when traveling north on Clark Street at Cape's Clark and Broadway intersection, headed toward the public library. I stopped at the red light, then proceeded to cross after the light turned green but failure to look both ways could have cost me my life when a seemingly out-of-control lady driving west on Broadway in a van drove through the red light, traveling at a very high speed. Thanks to those few who saw what happened and noted the van's make, model and license number and relayed the information to me. I would encourage the lady to turn herself in to the authorities or I will pursue it with the police myself.
Scott Walker riding a Harley is a joke. Also the jokers that are riding with him are something. They don't know the truth about him. He is trying to bust the unions in his state but is riding a Harley made by union labor. Probably because he knows the people that made it do the best job.
Some of you may be familiar with what is in effect America's largest mental institution. It's called jail.
Thanks to Jack Dragoni for clarifying his position on teaching American history in school. His view is a very common-sense one and in no way related to the crazies in Texas who are trying to mandate that all U.S. history books include Moses as one of America's founding fathers.
