Hats off to the airport board and the city of Cape for sponsoring another wonderful air show. My family and I enjoyed everything about it, especially the Snowbirds. Thank you for a job well done. Look forward to going to another air show.
I would like to make a comment on an interview I saw, where a woman said the U.S. ambassador died of smoke inhalation and he didn't die of bullets. Well, wouldn't that be the same thing as saying the people who jumped out of the World Trade Center didn't die because of the planes flying into it?
It's a shame this president won't do anything to help that young Marine war hero that's in prison down in Mexico because he accidentally crossed the border, and he had all his possessions in his car because he was moving to San Diego to receive treatment for PTSD from the war and accidentally crossed the border by mistake and he had all his possessions in his car, including three weapons that were legally bought and registered. But the Mexicans put him in prison, where he's afraid for his life because they're threatening to kill him in that prison. And nobody will do anything about it.
My biggest pet peeve is daughters who treat their moms like a door mat. Daughters who have no respect for mothers, when they've done everything humanly possible to help their daughters. And they step all over them. They talk to them worse than anything. And they have no respect for their mothers. And their mothers give and give and give, and they don't take anything for themselves. And the daughters take them for granted. Well, I've had it. I'm at the boiling point. I'm done. Next time my daughter treats me like that, I'm going to tell her exactly what I'm thinking.
Have you all noticed that the commercials on TV last longer than the program itself? And I'm really tired of the scare tactics they use anymore. That won't make me buy their product. In fact, I will not buy their product if they use scare tactics.
Where is PETA when you need them? There are many, many eagles and other birds being killed by these wind turbines. If I was PETA, I would be getting on the government to put safety cages on those turbines. I mean, all they are is a giant fan. They don't spin as fast as a little box fan, but they're about the same thing. They spin and they kill the birds that fly into them. I don't know what attracts the birds to them, but they do. There's a report of hundreds of birds being killed, at least 28 eagles. So maybe they ought to have some kind of cage around the wind turbines, so that way we won't lose as many eagles. I mean, if you want the ethical treatment of animals, they need to do something about that.
Boy, the editorial cartoon of May 22 ought to hit a nerve with all area school administrators and with the Common Core advocates. Standardized tests are absolutely hurting these kids that we're supposed to be teaching, but there's a lot of cheating going on and every administrator around here knows it. It's sad, but it's hurting our kids and no wonder we've got teachers in Sikeston who are trying to stand up for what's best for the kids, and more people need to do that.
If local control of public education ever truly became a reality, it could be that I will live to see the day when reading Speak Out is included in the curriculum and 2+2=5.
