Playground dogs

YOUR dog doesn't bite? No, your dog doesn't bite you. It is inappropriate to bring your dog to the toddler playground. It endangers our children, regardless of how harmless you think your animal is. Your dog doesn't belong in the playground. Even if it doesn't bite, it does poo -- something that doesn't need to be where children are playing. Leave your dog at home when you might be around my children.

Paying utilities

DOES anyone know who is paying the utilities at Commander Premier at the airport? Are they able to pay the utilities, or is the city paying them?

Party's over

THE two-party system has been having one big party with our tax dollars for far too long. I predict rude awakenings for both sides over the next few election cycles.

Political ignorance

A recent comment said Republicans don't need a tea party but rather a double espresso. While this comment may induce laughter as a liberal bumper sticker, it also exudes ignorance as to what Democrats have done once they took control of Congress in 2006.

Collecting rent

HOW can the mayor and city council even think about raising the water and sewer for its residents when they have neglected to collect rent from Commander Premier?

Homeless shelter

I remember Larry Rice's previous homeless shelter in Cape Girardeau. It was a joke. About the only people who stayed there were people hitchhiking from Memphis to St. Louis who wanted a free place to stay. One of them showed me a handout he received in Memphis, listing the shelter in Cape Girardeau. Eventually the place closed because not enough people needed it. Why would the federal government give him a building the size of the federal courthouse? That this is even a possibility is a disgrace. For it to happen would be a travesty.
