IF you know someone who is taking advantage of the welfare system, you can call Social Security and report them anonymously. They are stealing from all of us. IT'S pretty sad that senior citizens have not received a raise in their Social Security checks for two years now and our government sends $21 million over to Japan and all these other foreign countries. It's about time senior citizens get their share...
Welfare fraud

Senior's share

Bike trail
WHAT is with all the cyclists on Perryville Road and Route W? Don't you people know about the bicycle/jogging trail that runs through Cape Girardeau? You put yourselves and drivers at risk on these roads, especially during morning and evening times. Do us both a favor and get on the trail where you belong.
Gun control
A recent Speak Out comment called for "good old-fashioned gun control." If we did have gun control, the only ones who would have guns would be hoodlums and felons.
Blaming Bush
WHY does everyone blame Bush and the Republicans for everything when Democrats had the power during Bush's run?

Media coverage
SOMEONE said they were tired of the media talking about Lindsay Lohan and Charlie Sheen. Me, too. I wish they'd talk more about Noam Chomsky, Sen. Bernie Sanders and moveon.org.
Paying our debts
IF you earn $50,000 per year and you owe MasterCard $100,000, you are in trouble. You must decrease your spending and start paying down your debt to MasterCard as soon as possible. Please tell every member of Congress that our federal government brings in about $3 trillion per year and it is $14 trillion in debt. It cannot increase tax rates or businesses will move to other countries. Our government must decrease spending, create a budget surplus and pay down the debt.
Noise problem
IT seems the best way the city council could decided what is too loud would be to get a room downtown for a month. Try getting some sleep and being up the next morning for work.
Sunshiny coverage?
YOU guys patted yourselves on the back a bit too much in your "Sunshine Week" editorial. For example, when you wrote that story about the female victim of sexual harassment and the Missouri General Assembly's attempt to place a $50,000 cap on recoverable punitive damages on such cases, why did you feel it necessary to suppress the name of the employer who victimized her? That's not very sunshiny of you.
White House staff
PEOPLE damage the credibility of the Speak Out forum by repeating "pants on fire" lies of Glenn Beck, such as the recent erroneous claim that Michelle Obama has 43 people on her staff. In reality it's 20-something.
