A Speak Out contributor asked smokers to explain why they throw out their cigarette butts on the street, etc. It's simple -- they're selfish and disrespectful of others. My question is why, when a car pulls up to a red light and the driver opens his/her door and empties out their ashtray on the ground, the Cape Girardeau police officer in the car directly behind them doesn't pull them over and give them a ticket for littering. I've seen it twice in recent months. Ridiculous!
Does anyone read the opinion pieces you plop into the print edition? The op/ed piece from Vernonique de Rugy was a hoot -- calling for Trump to cut government waste ... as he just returned from his fourth golf adventure in six weeks? Please. We did notice. Golfer in chief.
Jackson has made some terrific improvements in the past year. The "Roundabout" was the greatest single improvement, in my opinion. I used to totally avoid Jackson at times such as schools starting or letting out. Question is, who decided to block right hand turns from Hwy 61 onto Washington by the court house! This negates the smooth traffic flow in and around uptown Jackson!
It warms the heart as you read the "feel good" stories of people helping others. Especially those who donate to schools to pay overdue lunch fees. Lets continue to "pay it forward."
