I am appalled that if deer hunting is passed in Cape Girardeau, an unlimited number of hunters can swarm into the city. Just as alarming is that an underage child can hunt with any adult with him. How safe can any of our children and pets be? Have the city council and mayor seriously thought about our safety?
Bowhunting is inefficient and cruel. A number of strong studies show 50 percent crippling rate for deer. Only half of the animals shot are never retrieved but run off and suffer for a length of time.

We used to brag about the number of full-time tenured faculty who were wonderful mentors to the students at Southeast. We can't brag about that anymore. What's the ratio now? We had wonderful mentors who could help us with our career path who are not there now. Buildings don't mean that much.
Sen. McCain, this is for you: You made remarks about the young senator doing the filibuster. You have tried twice to be president and people don't want you, so keep your remarks to yourself and let the young ones take over.
Just a reminder to vote "yes" on April 2 to repeal the reckless, unsafe urban hunting ordinance. It will take a "yes" vote to prevent hunting in the city and year-round target practice.
There is an academic debate going on about whether the minimum wage should be between $22 and $33 an hour. These figures are arrived at by factoring in the tremendous increase in worker productivity since 1960. Based on my calculations, I have concluded the correct figure to be $31.75.
I would like to speak out about the dress code in the school board meeting. I would like to say, instead of spending time on the dress code, the Cape public schools should address discipline.
