Courts will decide

WHY WOULD anyone run on the GOP ticket again for president after this election? It looks like Gore and his buddies want to run the county forever. Why vote if the courts decide who wins? We are headed for one-party rule. It makes me sick to think we have lost our freedom to vote.

Waited a long time

ISN'T IT strange that it took Clinton eight years to get around to trying to locate 1,498 missing Americans in Vietnam -- and right at the time of this election fiasco? Does Clinton actually think Americans and Vietnam vets and current military personnel cannot see through his devious attempt to sway this election toward Gore?

Sounds familiar

BUSH TRUSTS the people and state legislature -- just not in Florida. It reminds me of "Read my lips, no new taxes." Lies, lies, lies.

Other nice guys

IN AN interview with NBC's Tim Russert, Rush Limbaugh said George Bush would do the best job of uniting the nation because he is a "nice guy." Others who were said to be personally "nice guys" and were also national unifiers include Fidel Castro and Joseph Stalin.

Other overseas ballots?

I AM so confused. What happened to all the overseas absentee ballots in all of the other states?

Police won't respond

I AM calling in regard to this joke they put in the paper called Crime Stoppers. They run pictures in the paper. They have had numerous calls on one of the suspects and know exactly where he is and exactly how to get him, but they refuse to go pick him up. I would like to know why they waste their time and effort to put the pictures in the paper. They ask for concerned citizens to do their part to bring criminals to justice, and when they are told how to find them no law-enforcement agency has the nerve to go pick him up.

Sorry, suckers

I CAN just see Clinton over there in Vietnam looking for the MIAs and saying to himself: Gee whiz, I could have been one of them but I was a draft dodger. Sorry, suckers, ha, ha, ha.

Thanks for picking them

I WOULD like to say thank you to all those men and women who voted Clinton and Gore into office. What a wonderful thing you all have done to our country. The draft dodger is in Vietnam trying to tell us what to do with the Vietnamese and how we should come together and forget about that whole ugly thing. The other one is in Florida not allowing votes that the military has cast for this election. These two are two very patriotic men. I am so glad you voted them into office. You all should be very proud of yourself.

Plenty of recounts

GOVERNOR BUSH won the first count in Florida. He won the recount in Florida. Now he has won another recount including the military ballots from overseas, even though they didn't count enough of them. It seems like that is three in a row. Why do we need to keep on counting? If Gore wins one do we give it to him even though he has only won one and Bush has won three in a row. I think Bush has won Florida. It is time for Gore to give up and peacefully say the country should move on with Bush as president.

Give it to Bush

IT SEEMS to me that Gore thinks he is the ruler of the world. I think it is time for the Democrats to wake up and realize we don't need somebody like him as president. Bush got it, and they should give it to him.

Gore won nationwide

AFTER THE word illegitimate was used by a lawyer in Florida, there were two comments from Speak Out Republicans saying if Gore got in he would be illegitimate. Since Gore won the majority vote nationwide by over 200,000, I think Bush would better qualify as illegitimate if he happens to get in. I wonder why the Republicans don't want a recount in Florida? They probably know they would lose.

Florida really goofed

I AM sick to death of hearing justice will prevail. It didn't prevail when Clinton lied in court, nor did the best man win when he was elected to office. This Florida mess should be a lesson to all voters: Make your vote count, but abide by the rules and the laws already in place. If you goofed you just goofed. Florida should not be included in this election, and we should subtract 25 from the total number of electors. Florida just goofed this time.

Give up, run again

I WANT to comment about the Florida vote counting. It appears that Bush has won. I think Gore should give up and run again if he feels like it, but don't bring the country down just for his own good.
