THIS IS in response to the sports analysis made by the Jackson fan . Why is it that you complain that Central plays weaker teams when you play as many 4A schools as Cape Central? This past season Jackson played five 4A schools: Sikeston, Perryville, Dyersburg, Hillsboro and Cape Central. Why do you say Cape plays low-quality teams when you play basically the same type of teams. If you want to impress Southeast Missouri, why don't you go play teams like Columbia Hickman or the Jeff City Jays and prove why you were third in the state. Don't talk the talk and not walk the walk.
I HAVE always thought no matter who became president we should all stand behind him. However, I am very disappointed that George W. Bush won. But life goes on. I hope he will have intelligent individuals helping and advising him. I would welcome President Clinton back any day. Who will Rust, Limbaugh and Kinder pick on now? My daughter is a student in a small school south of Cape, and our social-studies teacher was a campaigner for Bush during his classes. I didn't really appreciate it.
I DON'T believe the Southeast Missourian people stayed up late Tuesday night. Bush didn't win yet. Will they put as big a picture and everything on the front page when Al Gore becomes the winner? I hope so. This looks like a Tom Dewey.
I THINK the Southeast Missourian owes its readers an apology on Bush's win when he hasn't won yet.
MY OPINION of the lack of intelligence of the average American voter has been more than vindicated with this election. Could anyone imagine anyone voting for a dead man? Jean Carnahan is no more qualified to be the senator than the man in the moon. And what about Hillary Clinton in New York? How in the devil could she win the election for Senate? How stupid is the American voter?
IF I were John Ashcroft, I would do whatever is necessary to make Missouri get this dead man off the ballot because it is unconstitutional.
THE REPUBLICANS should keep up the good work now and smear Bush just like they did Clinton. Our economy doesn't seem to matter.
HOW SOON they forget. I was reading the Speak Out comment from a Jackson fan downgrading Cape Central's success because it dropped to 4A. It was just about four years ago that the Jackson football program went to the state championship two years in a row in 4A competition. If I also remember correctly, there were a lot of positive comments called in by Cape Central fans supporting Jackson's team and their drive to a possible 4A state championship. How sad it is that Jackson can't be happy that they had an outstanding successful season of 9-1 and just missed out this year in going to the playoffs in an exciting game against Poplar Bluff. It is also sad that the Jackson fans could not be happy and supportive of Cape Central, which just happens to be in the same boat as Jackson was a few years ago, hoping to advance in the playoffs in 4A football. I am happy the Indians had a great season, and I am truly excited the Cape Central football team, with outstanding coaching staff and great kids on the football team, have earned the right to play in the 4A state playoffs.
