MAY I suggest that Speak Out at Christmas be limited to statements of good and praise. There's been so much lately where people have reflected things that have hurt them, things that they're mad about, belittling other people. Surely at Christmas when we celebrate the coming of the King of Kings, Prince of Peace, that we could have some comments that would do honor to this time of year. Let it all be done to say something good.
I WOULD like to acknowledge the wonderful, friendly, helpful people working at our local Goodwill Industries store. They are always gracious and receptive of all donations I've dropped off there. It's too bad our local Toybox program only accepts new, unused toys. Maybe that's why they are so short on donations. All of my good, used toys went to Goodwill this year. I'm sure some children somewhere will enjoy them immensely.
WELL, WE'VE already had two snowstorms, and the Jackson road crews were out with their snowplows and cinders pronto. The guys picked up our trash just like clockwork. I just want them to know how thankful I am to them and how proud I am to live in Jackson. I'd just like to say God bless you guys and happy holidays to you and yours.
HERE IS something appropriate for Christmas: May we not be molded by the world but by you, O Lord. May our gifts be peace, joy and love. Happy birthday, Jesus.
DURING THE past two weeks, we had the privilege to attend the music programs at Louis J. Schultz School and Central Senior High School. These programs were excellent. The students performed very well a true credit to the community, the faculty of the music department and the administration. The students participating in the program deserve a special thank you and a pat on their backs. Thank you for the holiday cheer.
IT SEEMS like the outdoor holiday decorations get better and better as the years go by. Everybody has a favorite display or a special neighborhood to drive through. To me, some of the best outdoor displays are the simple ones that make effective use of lights, architecture, trees and shrubs. Thank you so much to everyone who does this.
