I want to thank the person who found my purse in the shopping cart at Wal-Mart and turned it in. I have never done that before. I just want to thank you again so much.
I think the Southeast Missourian missed the boat on the "matrimony" article. The No. 1 reason the marriage rate is dropping goes hand in hand with the number of illegitimate children being born. People don't get married because if they do, their government assistance will stop. So, couples just live together so they don't have to claim the father's income when applying for food stamps, welfare, Pell Grants, etc. Until the federal government does something about the way assistance programs are administered, the marriage rate will continue to drop.
I agree with a Wall Street Journal reprint pointing out that our nation's power grid is very vulnerable to cyber attacks and could be lessened with drone surveillance. Unfortunately, such a move would likely be strongly resisted by libertarian Republicans such as Rand Paul.
It's sad to read in the paper where a church is in a crisis over same-sex marriage and different church laws. They are actually listening to man. They are not listening to God. If they read their Bible, if they go by what God's Word says, the Bible is very definitely against homosexuality. And any minister who goes against God's word is doing what man wants, not what God wants.
I see in the paper where the city council wants to do more street projects. You can't even take care of the streets we have right now. I live on Longview off Lexington, and it is now a gravel street instead of a paved street. It makes me sick to my stomach that I pay all these taxes, and you can't even fix what you have now.
