Prayer and humor

A BIG thanks to the individual who puts the prayer in the paper each day. The one Feb. 6 with a little humor in it made my day. Thanks again.

It was wrong

A RECENT comment asked what the big deal was about the halftime show and said it was no different than the two half-naked girls on the farm. There is a difference. When you sit down to watch the show with the half-naked girls on the farm, you know what you're getting. When you sit down to watch a halftime show at a football game, you expect music and dancing, but you do not expect nudity. It's not supposed to be allowed. The big deal is that it's wrong.

Bring back factories

OUR POLITICIANS, several years ago, wanted their salaries increased because they wanted to attract educated, intelligent people to these jobs. Well where are our congressmen and our president when we hear of another factory closing and 2,700 people losing their jobs, which are going to Mexico? When are our politicians going to start looking out for the American worker? We cannot be just a service country. We need our factories back. Trading with other countries is all right, but these other countries are pushing the United States around.

Loss of choice

"WHAT'S THE big deal?" This is the big deal: choice. You can choose to watch the show with stupid half-naked girls on a farm. You had no choice when Janet Jackson did what she did. And the world was supposed to be supporting freedom. You're losing your freedom by not having a choice in this.

Fair pay for coroner

MAYBE IF the county would give him the salary he deserves, the coroner wouldn't have to have a second job. I would like to see anyone else get up at 2 a.m. when someone has died and still get to his other job in the morning. He is not being paid fairly.

Working two jobs

I WORK two full-time jobs. My daughter holds down two full-time jobs. The people who work eight hours and then complain they need government aid are the people who can also work another job.

It's still wrong

IN REGARD to the Janet Jackson incident: It would have been wrong in 1950, and it's wrong in 2004. Just because it's 2004 doesn't make it right.

Pageantry and beauty

I WATCHED the Grammy Awards show, and it was lousy. It was nothing but yelling and screaming and loud music. Why can't we have the beauty and pageantry that we used to have?

Unfair idea

THIS IS to people who are suggesting the poor folks should earn money to pay the school district in order to play football. Have you lost your mind? Why should they have to work to pay for sports when a lawyer's son can just breeze by his dad and get the money handed to him? I think we're opening up a can of worms here, and I hope the school board and school administration puts a stop to it .

Ready to go

I WAS honored to receive a phone call from a dedicated National Guardsman from Jackson. Guard members from Jackson and Perryville have completed special training for service in Iraq. They feel the war remains good against evil. He would rather fight those who want to kill Americans.

Only the privileged few

I GUESS we know who's going to be starting quarterback and drum major at Central High School if the school board and administration's proposals go through to charge for school activities. It will be the sons and daughters of physicians, lawyers, CEOs and other people with money in this school district. This is not why I pay my school taxes.

Where has he been?

BUSH SAYS the economy is stronger and better. Where has he been all this time? Does he still have his head in his rear end? The economy is still not better. It's worse since he took over and it keeps getting worse.
