Congrats, Al

Congratulations to Al Young on your Carr Trophy award. We did not make it to state this year, but we made it further than the other schools and we did make history in 2014 when we went to state and we came in second place. But we still made history. Coach Nathan Norman is a wonderful coach and he has made a big difference for the Cape Central Tigers. Al Young, good luck in your future, and for the rest of the team, good job this year. We have a lot of good players that will be back next year. I will still be your No. 1 fan; have been since I was 7 years old. I love the Tigers.

Statement

U.S. Congressman Jason Smith, will you please release a public statement specifically addressing Donald Trump's proposal to ban all Muslims from entering the U.S. ?

Christmas songs

I have to say, I was disappointed in the complete removal of Christmas songs at South Elementary's Christmas concert. Replacing "merry Christmas" just didn't cut it. If you wish to be inclusive, then include songs from other backgrounds that celebrate holidays at this time of year. Otherwise, just skip it.

Link a leader

Dr. John Link sounds like a class-act leader for the Jackson schools. He seems to have an abundance of common sense, in reading his quotes in regards to a replacement for the NCLB and Common Core and won't be so easily led by new programs. I love the way he knows that "students learn at different paces, instructional levels," but yet has high expectations for all students.

Use tax

Boss Hahs, he sez, boys we need a use tax in Jackson. I don't know rightly how we'd use all that money, but I figure we could spend it better than the local citizens. We know what they need and they don't.

True love

True love is knowing my husband 43 years; dating him four years and being married for 34 years. Catching colds, paying bills, raising our children, who are adults. Now enjoying our grandsons, who are so intelligent. We have grown together in so many different ways. Caring for one another. Happy in all we have accomplished. Doing what we see as fun, and just being simple. Going to church, saying prayers, working together.

Heyward to Cubs

I just saw that the Cubs signed Jason Heyward. The Cardinals and manager Mike Matheny certainly have their work cut out for them. And you know what? That's cool. It's going to be a great rivalry. And I think Steve Piscotty, Tommy Pham and Randal Grichuk will be just fine.
