A maternal Halloween I think they should make Halloween costumes for pregnant women. This is my daughter's first Halloween where she actually goes trick or treating so I wanted to dress up with her. A maternal Halloween

I think they should make Halloween costumes for pregnant women. This is my daughter's first Halloween where she actually goes trick or treating so I wanted to dress up with her. I have looked everywhere including the Internet and I did not find one maternity costume. How hard can they be to make maternity costumes?

Take it to the limit

To the person who follows the speed limit and sometimes travels in the left lane: The speed limit over the entire length of Mount Auburn Road is 35 mph, not 30 mph. And you wonder why people are tailgating you when you're in the passing lane.

Reward for truth

What kind of government do have where they will let a convicted drug offender out of prison early for telling what is supposed to be the truth. He must not be a reformed convict because he would not tell the truth without being rewarded for it. He can change his story during trial but he still knows everything. Where is society going? Are we going to let child molesters, rapists, or murderers out early if they come up with a good story to tell?

Counting the days

Recently, a Speak Out comment compared judging Clinton for his indiscretions to the huge mistakes of Bush. There is no way to compare the two. Sure, Clinton has some moral issues (as do countless Americans), but his sexual escapades didn't lead to the death of numerous military personnel, innocent Iraqis and others. Right-wing Conservatives were out to get Clinton for something that did not affect the country. Bush is being blamed by the majority for problems he has created. Bush has made countless mistakes and will continue to. I'm counting down the days until it the next presidential election.

Abomination to God

It seems like Republican conservatives would like us all to believe that their party is the party of God, as they persistently focus on abortion and gay marriage as their ammunition to get people to vote against Democrats. However, when I read the Bible, it seems that the words in it place a considerable amount of emphasis on taking care of the poor and needy, which is something compassionate conservatives are willing to ignore. When it comes down to it, Republicans want their money and they are not willing to part with it for the sake of helping others. It says in the Bible that in the end of time people will lust after money and refuse to help others with it, and this is an abomination to God. He's watching you Republicans and he can see through your coat of sinful rhetoric.

Getting the facts

Amazing how some don't really read all the facts before they form and voice their opinion. The state wasn't trying to prevent that woman from having an abortion. They were fighting to prevent our tax dollars from being used to provide it. The paper had said she was paying for the abortion itself but the cost involved transportation, and Department of Corrections individuals that had to go with her. Unfortunately, she gets all that at our expense because she chose to violate her parole and didn't manage to get the abortion before she was brought back to Missouri. Perhaps we should have left her in good old California.

Logical fallacy

In response to the reader who proposed that religion is merely a coping strategy invented for dealing with death or tragedy: Your assertion is a logical fallacy similar to making the statement that mankind invented a magical force called wind to help us deal with the unsettling reality of trees moving for no apparent reason. Wind is a real force. We did not invent it. Spiritual truths are likewise real, and acknowledging them shows neither ignorance nor gullibility/ rather it is a demonstration of logic, reason, and observation.
