I would like to thank the lady who found the roll of stamps that I dropped in the Jackson post office parking lot recently. Bless you for your honesty. THE whiner about bikers on Route W needs to quit whining. Yes, they're a hassle, but actually the law is that they can take a whole space that a car can take. Now, they shouldn't really do this, in my opinion. They should move over and let the cars around them. But the point is they have a legal right to be on the road...

Thank you

I would like to thank the lady who found the roll of stamps that I dropped in the Jackson post office parking lot recently. Bless you for your honesty.

Quit whining

THE whiner about bikers on Route W needs to quit whining. Yes, they're a hassle, but actually the law is that they can take a whole space that a car can take. Now, they shouldn't really do this, in my opinion. They should move over and let the cars around them. But the point is they have a legal right to be on the road.

Bush, education

PRESIDENT Bush cared about education. That's why he signed No Child Left Behind. Those who are so eager to scrap it are those who really don't care about our children's education. You should watch what legislators are quick to scrap this and probably vote against them, because they really don't care about your child getting an education. They might care about unions more than they care about your child's education.

Taking Cape back

I'D like to comment on the noise violation law that went into effect. I'm glad it did. It seems like since the college students have come back to town, the citizens of Cape Girardeau, the taxpayers of Cape Girardeau, are taking their town back. We don't have the loud music and the wild parties going on anymore. I'm glad to see that went into effect. Now if we can just get the trash people not to throw our trash cans down the street, we might have a nice-looking town like Jackson.

Prisoners' comforts

WASHINGTON is having such a hard time trying to balance the budget. Why have they never tried cutting costs at prisons? These people have way too many comforts. Washington always wants to slam the good elderly and working people.

Roads over trail

THE bike trail runs all the way through Cape Girardeau, so why do we need to spend more for more trails? When I drive down Lexington Avenue, I feel like I'm doing it on horseback, and that's not the only road like that in Cape Girardeau. Fix the roads for the majority of the people using them first. The bike/jogger trail is smoother than 95 percent of the roads in Cape Girardeau already.

Protest comparison

I agree with the person who said the spreading demonstrations against Wall Street greed and corruption will make the tea party protests look like tea parties.

Congressional waste

CONGRESS did not do one thing last year to help the American people. However, as greedy as they are they took in $75,690,000 in salaries for last year. That isn't even counting health, pensions or any other benefits they get. This is a shame that they can get by with what they are doing. They are only there for their benefit. When they leave they always end up in some big government or state job, still milking money out of the American people.

Jobs bill

WE have yet to hear how Obama's jobs plan will create jobs. All we hear is the class warfare bill will increase taxes to penalize the job creators for their success. The upper 5 percent pay 60 percent of the income tax already. Harry Reid wants even more than Obama's bill proposed with an additional 5 percent surcharge on income over a certain amount. Reid's added tax on $1 million would be $50,000 that could be used to reinvest in business growth and payroll or buy more goods and services which are taxed. So the added taxes will actually reduce our economy even further since it will be wasted on more government programs with no economic improvements.
