I'D like to thank the Notre Dame students who sang Christmas carols at the Life Care Center the Friday before Christmas. It was very enjoyable, and I am sure that the residents and visitors appreciated it.
Thank you
THANK you to all the people who helped my daughter and grandchildren after their house was severely burned. Unlike Jonah, before he listened to God, when God spoke to his heart, they didn't climb aboard a ship and flee. They responded as soon as he spoke to their hearts. God bless all of you. And of course, God bless Jonah too, because he did finally listen when God spoke to his heart.
DO the parents of Cape Girardeau schoolchildren not have anything better to worry about besides the dress code? Why not enforce the code that the school already has set and worry about test scores or homework getting done?
MICHELLE Obama couldn't wait for her husband to complete his White House duties, so she took a plane to Hawaii early with full secret service, etc. at a cost of more than $100,000 to taxpayers. The "let them eat cake" attitude in Washington is unbelievable.
IF the Postal Service says there is an excess of employees and automated equipment in Cape Girardeau, then why are they still hiring employees to work there? They've recently hired 16 employees to work at the plant. Also, why have they spent millions of dollars in the last year and a half installing new equipment and upgrading existing equipment? Some of this was done just weeks ago. It doesn't sound like the Postal Service is being honest with us.
IF anyone has any doubts about what will happen to mail service if the Cape Girardeau mail distribution center closes they should go online to fredericknewspost.com. Frederick, Md., lost their plant to Baltimore, and now they are seeing delays up to a week or more. Catalogs are being delivered after the sale dates, bills are late, and some customers are saying they don't get their mail at all on some days. Workers at the Baltimore plant said they have mail piled up eight to 10 days. These cities are much closer than Cape Girardeau and St. Louis. Our situation could be worse than theirs.
RON Paul and the "do-your-own-thing" popularity of libertarianism has doomed the Cape Girardeau School District's dress code committee and implementation. If anything, the school board may end up having to say that when it comes to student dress, "anything goes."
MY grandson said, "Papa what is that thing?" I said, "That is the street sweeper. You've never seen one because Cape only has one." He said, "What does it do?" I said, "Nothing."
I am with the caller who thought TV has gone to the dogs. Absolutely, it has. It is vulgar, distasteful, offensive and all commercials. Seems as though the ruder and more ignorant people act, the more people like it. Some sell their souls and bear all on reality shows and complain about the press. People can't throw enough money at them. It is sick. What happened to the shows that took a little brain power to follow?
Caller's audacity
I loved the comment congratulating the Scott City woman on her plan to tithe on her lottery winnings. The reminder to tithe on the gross and not the net made me laugh at the audacity of the caller. I think Jesus told his followers to be more concerned with the plank in their eye than the sliver in their neighbors. So caller, instead of being so concerned about the Scott City woman's conduct, you might want to examine your own.
PEOPLE need to tell our children about the rewards of living a disciplined life. Living by a code, being honest, hard work, getting results, studying hard.
