THOUGH Joe Sullivan made an attempt to rationalize away the Southeast Missourian's failure to publish on Dec. 31, the public is not in a forgiving mood. One articulate commentator said, "The Southeast Missourian sponsors the Christmas tournament and then decides not to publish anything about the final round until two days after it's over. That does not compute!"
IF the city manager doesn't collect rent for over six years and doesn't do background checks, what does he do? I believe someone outside of Cape Girardeau needs to investigate this.
I'M not surprised that Jay Nixon made several campaign promises and has not kept them. That is what most politicians do. I am surprised that he was going to give $2 million to a crook to build a dental office in downtown Cape Girardeau. Too bad he wasn't willing to give that $2 million to programs that benefit Missouri's schools or elderly.
Leaf pickup service
IF the city is going to offer the leaf pickup service, why don't they pick up everybody's leaves in town? No one's leaves were picked up on Cape Rock, Fairlane or Allendale. I called to see why this happened, and they said the city put its equipment up already. If the city is going to offer the service, why doesn't it follow through?
112th Congress plans
THE GOP in the 112th Congress will try not to help the people but instead spend time trying to make things look good so they might get re-elected. They will do just the same as to how they got us into this mess with President Bush and his tax cuts for the rich. There weren't any jobs created with his tax cuts.
