Southeast Missouri State University will host the three-day Ohio Valley Conference Track and Field Outdoor Championships beginning today, and the Redhawks are hoping for hardware.

The event will take place at the Abe Stuber Track and Field Complex, and will be broadcast on ESPN+.

Southeast won its home meet earlier this season, competing against several of the same teams it will see this week, according to reporting by Phillip Suitts, who added that Redhawks won seven event titles.

"We feel good about where we're at," Southeast coach Eric Crumpecker said. "We've done some things in the last couple weeks that have helped our standing in the conference a little bit. We definitely feel like we have the capability of winning both the men's and women's. We've just got to get them to perform."

Southeast last hosted the OVC championships in 2012, when the men and women both took second.

Here's hoping that Southeast brings home the titles this weekend in this large track event. If you're a fan of track and high-end athletic performances, we encourage you to go cheer the runners, throwers, jumpers and vaulters this weekend. Good luck to all the athletes, but especially the Redhawks.
