Soles4Souls is a not-for-profit organization that provides shoes to orphanages and other places with individuals in need worldwide. Soles4Souls is a not-for-profit organization that provides shoes to orphanages and other places with individuals in need worldwide. Locally, Cheryl Reinagel, Rhonda Weller-Stillson and Robyn Jones have helped lead the charge for donations.

Last year almost 3,000 pairs of shoes were donated from this area. As of Wednesday afternoon, 1,600 pairs of shoes were donated with more to be counted.

The 2014 local effort was launched Sunday at St. Andrew Lutheran Church.

There are several locations to drop off shoes, including Marcy's Planet Shoes in Cape Girardeau, St. Andrew Lutheran Church (the main drop off point), Philanthropy (through Saturday), Prodigy Leadership Academy (through Thursday), South Elementary in Jackson, Southeast HealthPoint in Cape Girardeau and Jackson, Southeast Missouri State University (collecting through Friday outside Johnson Hall on the main campus) and Alma Schrader and Clippard Elementary Schools.

The shoe drive continues through Sunday when the shoes will be delivered to St. Andrew Lutheran Church to be loaded in a semi-truck trailer, provided by Genesis Transportation. The shoes will be delivered to the Nashville, Tenn., location at no cost.
