Sikeston rodeo

If you're a fan of rodeos or country music, this is the week for you. Wednesday night kicked off the 59th annual Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo in Sikeston, Mo.

This year's rodeo includes bareback riding, bull riding, tie-down roping, saddle bronc riding, steer wrestling, team roping and barrel racing, and for music entertainment the Sikeston Jaycees have once again booked some of the top names in country music.

Wednesday night kicked off with the Xtreme Muzik Tour, including Big & Rich, Gretchen Wilson and Cowboy Troy. Thursday night Craig Morgan took the stage. Tonight Pat Green with perform, and on Saturday night Rodney Atkins will round out this year's lineup.

In addition to seeing impressive performances by the rodeo cowboys and top-notch entertainment, you'll feel good knowing all the profits from the four-day event are given to charitable causes. Some of the past recipients include the Muscular Dystrophy Association, Kenny Rogers Children's Center and the Salvation Army.

Saturday night is the Tough Enough to Wear Pink night, a night to raise awareness for breast cancer. A portion of this year's proceeds will support the American Cancer Society.

If you haven't joined in on the rodeo fun, two nights remain. Tickets can be purchased by calling 1-800-455-BULL.

And speaking of fun, the SEMO District Fair is just around the corner. Folks from around Southeast Missouri will flock to the Arena Park grounds Sept. 10 to 17. This year's music entertainment includes George Jones, Creedence Clearwater Revisited and David Nail.

Summer might be winding down, but the entertainment options continue.
