Since 1993, when Sam McVay became administrator of the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau, the facility and its staff have received numerous state and national awards befitting a well-run public institution.

Starting last week, McVay is the new executive director of the Missouri Veterans Commission, which oversees all seven state veterans homes and four veterans cemeteries.

Given the reputation of our own veterans home, it is a safe forecast that McVay, a Southeast Missouri native, will bring the same caliber of services and professionalism to these important veterans institutions throughout Missouri.
