It's a regular occurrence to read about efforts of generosity in this community. Countless folks volunteer or make monetary donations, each making a big difference.
In Sunday's Good Times there was a story about the Cape West Rotary Club's support of the Humane Society of Southeast Missouri. The group donated $15,000 for updates to the facility. But what makes this group's efforts that much more impressive is its members commitment to provide 400 service hours to help with the work, saving the organization much in labor costs. Among the projects group members have been working on are replacing the roof and doors as well as repairing outside kennels.
In addition to the Rotary Club's efforts, a group member said they have received donations and discounted materials from local hardware stores.
Many thanks to all those who pitched in at the shelter. The Humane Society does important work to care for stray animals, connect families with missing pets and promote adoptions. The services they provide do cost, and efforts like this go a long way in helping minimize expenses.
While the Rotary Club is to be commended specifically, we know there are many others, often without public recognition, who donate their time for causes they care about. To you, we offer our thanks.
