Dear Editor:

Since receiving your Oct. 11 issue and reading the editorial about the Charter Finance lawsuit delay, I feel a reply is necessary and in order.

The editorial attempts to lead one to believe that the reason for the delay in the lawsuit is due to the defense attorneys as part of their "astute court strategy."

Evidently, the person writing the editorial was not aware that the attorneys for the plaintiffs raised a brand new issue on the morning of the trial, Tuesday, Oct. 29, even though these attorneys had had 4 years. Presented with this new issue, the defense attorneys naturally would need time to prepare further defense.

The defendants, as well as the judge and 65 potential jurors, were ready to go to trial Oct. 29. The potential jurors need to know the truth about the delay.

Yours truly,
