Putting his faith and family first was the secret to his incredible journey from grocery-store clerk to quarterback of the 1999 Superbowl champion St. Louis Rams, Kurt Warner has always said.
In fact, the name of his charitable foundation is First Things First.
On April 28 Warner will talk about faith and family as the featured speaker at a Heartland Promise Keepers event at the Show Me Center in Cape Girardeau. The Heartland Promise Keepers are the local chapter of a national nondenominational evangelical ministry founded in 1991 for the purpose of gathering Christian men dedicated to living in a godly way.
The local organization has 15 to 20 members who meet weekly. They hope to attract 6,000 people to the Show Me Center for this event, which also will present other speakers. Last March about 1,000 attended a Heartland Promise Keepers event headlined by professional wrestler Steve Borden.
If anybody can speak on behalf of the primacy of faith and family in a man's life, Kurt Warner can.
