What a fantastic summer we've had. The weather lately has been unseasonably cool -- a refreshing surprise considering past years of July heat and humidity.
We hope you've enjoyed some outdoor activities during this cool period. There's certainly been no shortage of fun things to do.
Several churches have held outdoor events for members and the community at-large.
Abbey Road Christian Church held its latest ARCC in the Park event on July 21 at Capaha Park. This was the third such event this summer for the church, which featured music performances by New Life Singers and Barefoot on Sunday. The goal is to reach out to the community and provide an opportunity for fellowship. The church will hold another ARCC in the Park at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 25.
La Croix Church recently held a multiday Fair-4-All event that featured a festival atmosphere with games, kid-friendly activities and a night at Cape Splash.
Cape First will hold its Family Day & Demo Derby Friday night at Arena Park. Starting at 6 p.m. there will be fun activities for families, and at 8 p.m. a demolition derby will start at the grandstand.
These are just three events, but we know there are others that also provide a positive environment with fellowship and fun for families while serving as an outreach to the community. Our thanks to each one for its efforts.
