First daughter Jenna Bush took her lumps like a woman, accepting a $600 fine and 30-day suspension of her driver's license as punishment for underage drinking and trying to use someone else's ID to buy liquor.
The incidents happened in April and May, and she was paying the price by the first week in July.
There was no long, drawn-out fight over the circumstances of the case.
Nobody argued what the definition of "underage" really is. The White House apparently didn't interfere at all in the case and certainly didn't comment publicly on it.
So the daughter and granddaughter of presidents experienced the same results from her behavior as any other Texas college student without the impressive pedigree.
It's refreshing to know that, for some people in the public eye, there are no double standards.
