Along with more than 50 other people, I attended the "Dixieland Band and Cape CVB" event at the Cape River Heritage Museum on June 27. Jerry Ford and his combo played wonderful music, and Chuck Martin spoke to an appreciative audience about the river and riverboats, revealing a great respect for this city and its traditions. As the museum's volunteer curator, I share his feelings, and I am proud of the exhibits and programs that the museum has hosted over the years.
There are lots more Saturday morning events coming up this summer, and I hope that people will continue to turn out the way they did June 27. The next musical event will be at 10:30 July 25. You can visit the museum Tuesday through Sunday in the afternoon or call to schedule a tour. You can also volunteer. We would be glad to have your help.
