To the editor:The governor seems to have a good plan to change Medicaid. We all know the program is out of control, with costs spiraling higher. What we need is a system that makes people more accountable for receiving these benefits. Medicaid is important in the short term, but it should not become a way of life like it has for many people. Too many politicians and special-interest groups are already crying about changing Medicaid even though these same people have offered no solutions. When you spend more money on Medicaid than education, there is a problem, and it's nice to see that the governor is trying to do something about it. It's also disappointing that others want to do nothing.
