Operating remote-controlled toys isn't just for kids.

Around 100 model airplanes are expected to be in the Cape Girardeau sky this weekend for the 3D Fly-Low-In. The models are impressive, with wing spans between 6 and 8 feet. The show was scheduled to start Thursday and continues through noon Sunday at Galaxy Air Field, located off State Highway 177 north of Cape Girardeau.

The model airplanes will fly from 9 a.m. to midnight through Saturday, and hundreds of people are expected to enjoy the performances.

Judges will be on hand today and Saturday to judge the compeition, and Rick Renfrow, Southeast Missouri Modelers Association spokesman, said the shows are synchronized to music.
