To the editor:
So the Scott City School Board thinks its teachers still have to hit students with boards, even though teachers in surrounding districts no longer do so? Next week a ban takes effect in Pennsylvania, meaning that educators in 29 states and nearly every other country in the world do not hit kids.
Since Scott City believes strongly in paddling, surely it would allow a reporter and photographer to witness an actual paddling of, say, an elementary age girl? Parental permission would, of course, be obtained.
If not, why are they needing to hide this brutality from public view? Good school discipline is instilled in the mind, not the behind.
