To the editor: I recently attended the local craft fairs with some friends. As I was walking through the Arena Building, I overheard something that disturbed me greatly. Some women were discussing how crowded it was, and one of them stated, "Wheelchairs should not be allowed in craft fairs." I noticed some people in wheelchairs myself, but I feel they have just as much right to attend these events as anyone else. ...

I recently attended the local craft fairs with some friends. As I was walking through the Arena Building, I overheard something that disturbed me greatly. Some women were discussing how crowded it was, and one of them stated, "Wheelchairs should not be allowed in craft fairs." I noticed some people in wheelchairs myself, but I feel they have just as much right to attend these events as anyone else. A handicapped person's life is difficult enough without being subjected to such blatant hostility. What has happened in our society that we cannot be tolerant of those people who are different from ourselves?

At this time of thanksgiving and every day of the year we should thank God that we have two good legs on which to walk. I certainly do.
