LETTERS TO THE EDITOR: GIVE THE RACERS A READING LESSON BEFORE THE GAME

To the editor:

I would like to suggest to Coach Gary Garner at Southeast Missouri State University that the banners won by the 1999-2000 SEMO basketball team be dedicated in a public ceremony at the Show Me Center commencing approximately 30 seconds before the scheduled tip-off of the SEMO-Murray State basketball game this year.

I could not think of a more fitting prelude to this game than to honor our last year's team in front of the sellout crowd of SEMO fans and the fine, upstanding, scholarly student-athletes of the Murray State Racers basketball team.

I might also suggest that Garner request of the Ohio Valley Conference commissioner to instruct the referees to read the writings on these banners to the fine, upstanding, scholarly student-athletes on the Murray State basketball team so they will understand what they say also.
