To the editor: The recent column by Jamie Hall regarding Abdul-Rauf exemplifies the reasons for the moral and ethical decay of the United States. The fact that Abdul-Rauf had presumably signed a legal contract to conform to the NBA rules in order to obtain the money was never mentioned. It seems to be the modus operandi of sports stars, among others, today to sign a contract and, if you later change your mind about the conditions, simply try to have the contract altered...

His remark about the incident sounding like grade-school bickering is correct to a point. It's Mr. Hall and Abdul-Rauf who are sounding like a couple of kids pouting about having to obey the rules.

A word of advice to Mr. Hall and Abdul-Rauf: Grow up and accept responsibility for your actions. Act like mature, responsible adults.
