To the editor:

It does my heart good to read something in the paper like Joe Sullivan's Jan. 26 column, "The music man for hundreds was Mr. English."

I have lived in Cape Girardeau 27 years. Mr. Joe English was my music teacher in high school at Wardell (in the Missouri bootheel). I'm not very good at music, but I was in his glee club. I also lived with the Englishes for awhile when his wife was ill and took care of their children. I thought the world of them, and his wife was one of my favorite people.
