To the editor:
In about three weeks, on Tuesday, April 4, we will once more be voting for new members of the Jackson Board of Education. Our votes will be shaping the future of our district. Therefore, they should be educated votes. One way voters can make that educated vote is by marking Tuesday, March 21, on their calendars so they won't forget to attend the "Meet the School Board Candidates Forum." The forum, hosted again this year by the Jacksonian chapter of the American Business Women's Association, is a tremendous way to gauge the candidates and find out just where they stand on issues that are important to voters and the children of the district.
For the past seven years, voters have read about the forum, after the fact, here in the pages of the Southeast Missourian. While indeed the coverage is always very good, it just isn't the same as being there in person, possibly asking questions of personal importance. In short, voters can take part in the process and make a difference. I strongly urge voters to come and take part in this forum with us. While voters are on their way, they can pick up a friend.
The forum will be held in the Jackson Junior High School building. All of the candidates are expected to be in attendance. The moderator for the forum is Susanna Baylon, reporter and anchorpersons for KFVS-TV, who, like the candidates, looks forward to meeting as many voters at the forum as possible.
Again, that's 7 p.m. Tuesday night, March 21, at the Jackson Junior High School. We would like to see as many people there as possible. Let's make this the best forum yet.
