To the editor:

I would like to address my comments to the students, parents and staff of Central High School and also to the entire community. As next year's elected student body president, I would like to present a challenge to you.

First, to the students, I challenge you to work for what you believe in and go after what you want with a vengeance. You've elected your officers. Let us do our job. Tell us what you want and work with us to get it done. I challenge you to stand up for what you believe in and not to sit back and complain while others shoulder the load. Support your friends and your fellow students. Come to our games and concerts. Make every other school in this area wish they could have a fraction of the spirit that walks the halls of Central High School every day.

Secondly, to the faculty and members of the community, we need your support. I'm not asking you for your money. I'm asking you for your time. Show the students at Central High School that you believe in us and in our futures. We need you also at our games and concerts. Stand up and yell for the students. Talk to neighbors and friends. Find out what needs to be done and work with us to do it. You'll find hundreds of willing helpers walking our halls if you want to lend a hand.

Lastly, don't spend your time criticizing our teachers or our students or our board. People make mistakes, and what is done is done. We need your help now to move forward. Find a way to put the past behind you and support us. We are the future of this town and this country. If you can't invest your time in our school system, invest your time in that fact, and let's make this town bleed orange and black.
