Tonight marks the opening of the 67th season of Cape Girardeau's Municipal Band. Talented local musicians will fill Capaha Park with wondrous sounds for 11 weeks this summer.
The summer season is like an old friend - familiar and yet still very engaging. Each year we are delighted by the bounty of local talent on display - both by the "regulars" and weekly guests. The performances provide family entertainment at a price everyone can afford. They're free.
All concerts will be on Wednesday nights at 8, except for next week when the band performs at 8:30 p.m. Friday, June 11, during Riverfest.
It takes three crucial elements to pull off this highly successful program each year - city support, talented musicians and appreciative audiences. The program is set, the musicians hired, and the invitation extended. Let's strike up the band.
