It's almost time to vote; some useful information

It's been a long time coming, but it's finally upon us. Tomorrow is Election Day. On both the state and national levels, candidates and issues have been met with great emotion and varying opinions, but it all comes down to tomorrow. The beauty of our country is that we get to participate in the outcome.

To participate, you need to vote. To vote, you need to know where to vote. And once you show up to vote, you need to know how to vote. Not showing up is not a responsible option. We have seen time and time again that every vote counts. Do not fall into the trap of thinking your state and your nation do not need your hand in the process. Your hand is very much needed.

Voting polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. As long as you're registered, you can go before work, during your lunch break or when you get off work. As long as you're in line at 7 p.m. you will be allowed to vote. Maybe you can go after dinner and take the kids with you so they can see the democratic process in action; make it a family affair.

To determine your voting location, how to vote, special voting accommodations and more, go to www.sos.mo.gov/elections/govotemissouri. There, you will be able to type in your address to learn your voting location as well as receive contact information to ask questions.

As the website instructs, you are entitled to assistance, so do not be shy if you need help. Sometimes, the process seems overwhelming, so ask for a demonstration if necessary.

Individuals with disabilities may also receive accommodations to make the process as simple of possible. For example, you may vote curbside if you have limited mobility or ask for a more accessible polling location. Furthermore, every polling place has audiovisual accessibility. According to the website, "Accessible systems include an audio ballot to make your selections or the ability to enlarge text so that you can read the on-screen ballot with ease."

Many options exist to create a smooth election experience, so take advantage of them. Remember, your vote is your voice -- and everyone's voice needs to be heard Tues.
