Hate-filled diatribe was excessive

To the editor:

While surfing TV channels May 14, I came to MSNBC. Keith Olbermann was in process of the most vitriolic attack on President Bush and the administration that I have ever witnessed. I couldn't believe what I was seeing and hearing. For the sake of first-hand knowledge, I watched to the close. It was the most hate-filled diatribe imaginable. I have never witnessed such comments, bordering close to hysterical commentary.

If this action reflects the mindset of MSNBC I truly fear for our future. It's one thing to disagree with a president or an administration, to speak out and give opposing views. But to use such hate-filled speech is totally unacceptable and goes far beyond the liberties afforded in our country.

In a couple of weeks I will celebrate my 83rd birthday. I well remember the Hoover days. I also remember those who blamed President Hoover for all the many ills of the nation. While they spoke openly and shared their thoughts, I also remember robust debate among those who differed in their opinions and political positions, I never heard such horrible diatribes as that of Keith Olbermann.
