Classroom learning and the foundational knowledge associated with it are important. However, all of us can benefit from hearing from other successful people. This is a component to the festivities this week at Southeast Missouri State University for Global Entrepreneurship Week.
Today Charles R. Stamp Jr. will address students and others from the community when he speaks on the future of farming. The keynote address will be at 1:30 p.m. at Glenn Auditorium. Stamp, who serves as vice president of Public Affairs Worldwide at Deere & Company, earned his undergraduate degree from Southeast and received the Distinguished Alumni Merit Award from the university in 2011.
On Friday morning Glenn Campbell will headline Coffee with Entrepreneurs. Campbell, along with business partner Scott Molander, started Hat World Inc., which later acquired LIDS. This event starts at 8:30 a.m. and will be held in Room 126 at Dempster Hall.
We appreciate entrepreneurs. These are people with ideas and the drive to put them into action. Their efforts help create jobs, stimulate our economy and add value to communities.
Having a week to recognize the importance of entrepreneurship, while hearing from successful individuals, is a good opportunity for Southeast students and many in the community.
These two events look promising, and we encourage you to consider attending.
